Message from Megan about her work:
My identity as an undefined artist (not just as a dancer) has really impacted the way that I dance/teach/choreograph. I consider choreographing not just as developing movement but being willing (and vulnerable) to let things around me to inspire me. I believe that giving myself this title of 'artist' allows me to not let any walls stay up, it lets me explore many mediums of art and incorporate my movement with such material; most of the time indirectly. As a woman, it feels almost rebellious to create so freely. Many times have I been talked over, many times I have been treated like my ideas are "back-up"... building up my own artistry as a woman has let me rebel in the most beautiful way, to take myself seriously when others will not.
